San Francisco, CA – In an effort to make public transportation more accessible and convenient for tourists and visitors, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has announced a new initiative called the “1 Day Passport Muni”.
The 1 Day Passport Muni is a special pass that allows riders unlimited access to the city’s Muni buses, light rail, and cable cars for a full 24-hour period. Priced at $15 for adults and $10 for youth, seniors, and disabled riders, the pass provides a cost-effective way for tourists to navigate the city’s diverse neighborhoods and attractions.
“We are excited to introduce the 1 Day Passport Muni as a convenient and affordable option for visitors to explore all that San Francisco has to offer,” said Andy Thornley, spokesperson for SFMTA. “With this pass, tourists can hop on and off Muni vehicles as much as they like, without having to worry about purchasing individual fares each time.”
The 1 Day Passport Muni is available for purchase at select Muni stations, Visitor Information Centers, and online through the SFMTA website. Once activated, the pass is valid for 24 hours and can be used on all Muni vehicles, including buses, light rail trains, and historic cable cars.
“We hope that the 1 Day Passport Muni will encourage more visitors to use public transportation during their stay in San Francisco,” Thornley added. “Not only does it provide a convenient way to get around the city, but it also helps reduce congestion and carbon emissions by encouraging sustainable travel options.”
With iconic attractions such as the Golden Gate Bridge, Fisherman’s Wharf, and Alcatraz Island, San Francisco is a popular destination for tourists from around the world. By offering a dedicated pass for visitors, SFMTA aims to enhance the overall experience for guests and promote the use of public transportation as a convenient and eco-friendly way to explore the city.
Feedback from early users of the 1 Day Passport Muni has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the pass for its affordability and ease of use. “I purchased the 1 Day Passport Muni during my recent trip to San Francisco, and it was a game changer,” said Sarah, a tourist from New York. “I was able to see all the sights without worrying about parking or hailing a cab. It made my visit so much more enjoyable.”
In addition to the 1 Day Passport Muni, SFMTA also offers multi-day passes for visitors who plan to stay longer in the city. These passes provide unlimited access to Muni services for up to 3, 7, or 30 days, catering to different lengths of stay and travel needs.
As San Francisco continues to evolve as a top tourist destination, initiatives like the 1 Day Passport Muni play a key role in promoting sustainable travel options and reducing reliance on private vehicles. By making public transportation more accessible and user-friendly for visitors, SFMTA hopes to create a more vibrant and inclusive city for all.
