Chicago Passport Services Experiencing Surge in Demand as Travel Restrictions Ease
As travel restrictions around the world begin to ease due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Chicago residents are rushing to renew their passports and apply for new ones in anticipation of future travel. To expedite the processing of passport applications, the Chicago Passport Agency is encouraging travelers to use the expedited service option, which guarantees a faster turnaround time for an additional fee. However, even expedited service may not be enough to meet the high demand for passports and alleviate the backlog of applications.
In response to the surge in demand for passport services, the U.S. Department of State has announced plans to open additional passport acceptance facilities in Chicago to help alleviate the strain on existing facilities.
