PBS Announces Launch of New Streaming Service, PBS Passport
In an effort to meet the growing demand for quality educational and entertaining programming online, PBS has announced the launch of a new streaming service called PBS Passport. This service will give subscribers access to thousands of hours of PBS content, including popular shows like “Masterpiece”, “Antiques Roadshow”, and “Nature”, as well as exclusive content only available to Passport members.
With PBS Passport, viewers will be able to stream their favorite PBS shows on demand, anytime and anywhere. This means that they can catch up on episodes they missed, binge-watch entire seasons, or discover new shows that they may not have been able to access before. Additionally, PBS Passport will offer viewers the option to watch live streams of local PBS stations, so they can stay up-to-date on their favorite programs as they air.
PBS Passport will be available for a monthly subscription fee, similar to other streaming services like Netflix or Hulu. Subscribers will have the option to choose from different pricing tiers, depending on how many devices they want to stream on simultaneously and whether they want to access the service ad-free. PBS has also announced that a portion of the subscription fees will go towards supporting public broadcasting, helping to ensure that PBS can continue to produce the high-quality programming that viewers have come to rely on.
“We are thrilled to introduce PBS Passport to our viewers,” said PBS President Paula Kerger. “This new streaming service will provide even more opportunities for audiences to engage with the content they love and discover new shows that inspire and educate. We believe that PBS Passport will be a valuable addition to the streaming landscape, offering a unique and diverse selection of programming that you can’t find anywhere else.”
PBS Passport is expected to launch later this year and will be available on a variety of devices, including smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and streaming media players. Viewers can sign up for updates and be notified when the service becomes available on the PBS website.
In the meantime, PBS is encouraging viewers to continue supporting their local PBS stations through donations and memberships, as these stations play a crucial role in bringing high-quality programming to communities across the country. By signing up for PBS Passport, viewers can not only enjoy their favorite PBS shows on demand but also help to ensure the future of public broadcasting for generations to come.
