New York State Launches Empire State Passport Program for Residents
New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today the launch of the Empire State Passport program, a new initiative aimed at providing residents with exclusive access to top attractions and events across the state. The program, which is set to kick off in January 2022, will offer holders a host of benefits, including free admission to participating museums, discounts at select restaurants and shops, and priority access to popular events.
The Empire State Passport is designed to promote tourism and support local businesses in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With travel restrictions lifting and a sense of normalcy returning, officials are hopeful that the program will help revitalize the state’s economy and attract visitors from near and far.
“We’re thrilled to introduce the Empire State Passport, a unique opportunity for our residents to explore all that New York has to offer,” said Governor Cuomo. “From the stunning beauty of the Adirondacks to the vibrant streets of New York City, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. This program is our way of saying thank you to the people who call this state home and encouraging them to support our local businesses.”
To participate in the Empire State Passport program, residents can sign up online at the program’s official website. Upon registration, they will receive a digital passport that can be used to unlock exclusive deals and experiences throughout the state. Passport holders will also have the option to purchase a physical passport for a small fee, which will come with additional perks such as free transportation on select routes.
The Empire State Passport program has already garnered widespread support from businesses and tourism organizations across New York. Many have signed up to be official partners, offering special promotions and experiences exclusively to passport holders. Participating venues include the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Statue of Liberty, and the Finger Lakes Wine Trail, among others.
“We’re excited to be a part of the Empire State Passport program and welcome residents to explore our world-class museum,” said a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “With free admission for passport holders, we hope to introduce new audiences to our collection and provide a memorable experience for all who visit.”
In addition to cultural attractions, the Empire State Passport program will also highlight the state’s natural beauty and outdoor recreation opportunities. Passport holders will have access to discounts on hiking and camping excursions, as well as special deals on local produce and products at farmers’ markets and orchards.
“We’re thrilled to participate in the Empire State Passport program and showcase the stunning landscapes and outdoor activities that New York has to offer,” said a representative for the Adirondack Park Agency. “With discounts on camping trips and guided tours, we hope to inspire residents to get out and explore the great outdoors.”
As the Empire State Passport program gears up for its official launch, officials are optimistic about the impact it will have on New York’s economy and tourism industry. By incentivizing residents to support local businesses and explore the state’s diverse offerings, the program aims to create a sense of community and pride among New Yorkers.
“We believe that the Empire State Passport program will not only boost tourism and stimulate economic growth but also foster a sense of unity and pride among our residents,” said Governor Cuomo. “By coming together to support our local businesses and share in the wonders of New York, we can build a stronger, more resilient state for all.”
