Maryland Introduces New Passport for Residents to Explore the State
Maryland residents will now have the opportunity to explore all that their state has to offer with the launch of the Maryland Passport. This innovative new program aims to encourage residents to discover hidden gems, support local businesses, and embrace the rich history and culture of the Old Line State.
The Maryland Passport is a pocket-sized booklet that features a list of 100 must-visit attractions and experiences across the state. From historic landmarks and natural wonders to culinary delights and cultural events, the passport offers a diverse range of activities for residents to enjoy. Participants can collect stamps at each location they visit, with rewards and incentives available for those who complete the entire passport.
“We are excited to launch the Maryland Passport program and provide residents with a fun and interactive way to explore our beautiful state,” said Governor Larry Hogan. “Maryland has so much to offer, from the mountains of Western Maryland to the beaches of the Eastern Shore, and we want to encourage our residents to get out and experience it all.”
The Maryland Passport was created in collaboration with local businesses and attractions to promote tourism and support economic recovery in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. By encouraging residents to travel within the state and patronize small businesses, the program aims to boost local economies and showcase the unique offerings of each region.
“We know that many Marylanders have been eager to travel and explore new places after a challenging year, and the Maryland Passport is the perfect way to do just that,” said Kelly Schulz, Secretary of Commerce. “By participating in this program, residents can discover the hidden treasures of our state and support the businesses and communities that make Maryland special.”
To participate in the Maryland Passport program, residents can pick up a free passport booklet at designated locations throughout the state or download a digital version online. The passport includes a map of participating attractions, as well as space to collect stamps and record memories from each visit. Residents are encouraged to share their experiences on social media using the hashtag #MarylandPassport to connect with other participants and inspire others to join in the fun.
As an added incentive, residents who complete the Maryland Passport by collecting stamps from all 100 attractions will be eligible for a variety of rewards and prizes, including gift cards, merchandise, and exclusive experiences. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to enter a grand prize drawing for a chance to win a luxury vacation package to a destination of their choice within Maryland.
“We are thrilled to offer residents the opportunity to explore Maryland in a whole new way through the Maryland Passport program,” said Anne Arundel, CEO of the Maryland Office of Tourism. “Whether you’re a history buff, a foodie, an outdoor enthusiast, or a culture lover, there’s something for everyone in our state, and we can’t wait to see residents embrace all that Maryland has to offer.”
With the launch of the Maryland Passport, residents are invited to embark on a journey of discovery and adventure as they uncover the wonders of their own backyard. Whether it’s visiting a historic site, trying a local delicacy, attending a festival, or embarking on a scenic hike, the passport offers a diverse array of experiences to suit every interest and taste.
