Maryland Introduces New Passport Program for Residents
Residents of Maryland will soon have a new way to explore the world without leaving the state, thanks to the launch of the state’s new passport program. The program, called “Passport Maryland,” aims to encourage residents to discover the diverse cultures, attractions, and experiences that Maryland has to offer.
The idea for Passport Maryland was inspired by the success of similar programs in other states, such as California and New York. The program is a collaboration between the Maryland Department of Commerce, the Office of Tourism, and local businesses and attractions throughout the state.
“We wanted to create a fun and engaging way for residents to experience all that Maryland has to offer,” said Sarah Johnson, a spokesperson for Passport Maryland. “Whether you’re a foodie looking to try new restaurants, a history buff interested in exploring museums and historic sites, or an outdoor enthusiast seeking adventure, Passport Maryland has something for everyone.”
To participate in Passport Maryland, residents can purchase a passport booklet for a small fee at participating locations throughout the state. The passport booklet contains a list of participating businesses and attractions, as well as space to collect stamps or stickers at each location visited.
“We wanted to make the program affordable and accessible to everyone,” said Johnson. “The passport booklet is priced at just $10, and participating locations offer special discounts and deals to passport holders.”
Once residents have collected a certain number of stamps or stickers in their passport booklet, they can redeem it for prizes such as gift cards, merchandise, or even a free weekend getaway to a Maryland destination of their choice.
“We wanted to incentivize residents to explore all that Maryland has to offer,” said Johnson. “By offering attractive prizes, we hope to motivate residents to visit new places, try new things, and support local businesses.”
The response to Passport Maryland has been overwhelmingly positive so far, with residents eagerly signing up to participate in the program.
“I love the idea of exploring Maryland like a tourist in my own state,” said Emily, a resident of Baltimore. “I can’t wait to start collecting stamps and discovering new places.”
Local businesses and attractions are also excited about the program, as it provides them with an opportunity to attract new customers and showcase what makes Maryland special.
“We’re thrilled to be a part of Passport Maryland,” said Mike, the owner of a popular restaurant in Annapolis. “We can’t wait to welcome passport holders and introduce them to our delicious cuisine and unique atmosphere.”
As Passport Maryland prepares to officially launch, residents are encouraged to start planning their passport journey and exploring the many treasures that Maryland has to offer.
