    Passport Appointment Backlog in Fresno Creates Frustration for Travelers

    FRESNO, Calif. – With international travel slowly opening up again after the COVID-19 pandemic, residents of Fresno are facing a frustrating challenge: securing a passport appointment. The backlog at the Fresno Passport Agency has left many travelers scrambling to obtain the necessary documentation in time for their upcoming trips.

    The issue stems from a combination of factors, including a surge in demand for passports as travel restrictions are lifted, a shortage of passport agency staff due to the pandemic, and a backlog of applications that built up during the height of the lockdowns.     “We understand the frustration that travelers are experiencing, and we are committed to finding solutions to address the backlog at the Fresno Passport Agency,” said a spokesperson for the agency. “We are working closely with our partners to increase capacity and improve efficiency in order to provide timely service to all applicants.”

    In the meantime, travelers in Fresno are advised to plan ahead and apply for their passports well in advance of their planned trips. The U.S. Department of State recommends that travelers submit their passport applications at least six months before their departure date to ensure that they receive their passports in time.

    “I wish I had known about the passport appointment backlog sooner,” said Sarah Collins. “I would have applied for my passport months ago to avoid this last-minute stress. Hopefully, the Fresno Passport Agency can get things sorted out soon so that other travelers don’t have to go through this ordeal.”

    As the demand for passports continues to rise in Fresno and across the country, it is clear that more needs to be done to address the backlog at passport agencies.
