Winston-Salem State University Opens Passport Office to Serve Campus Community

Winston-Salem State University (WSSU) is making it easier for students, faculty, and staff to travel abroad with the opening of a new passport office on campus. The office, located in the Thompson Center for Design Studies, is set to provide a convenient and efficient way for members of the university community to obtain or renew their passports.

“We are excited to offer this service to our campus community,” said Dr. Elwood L. Robinson, Chancellor of WSSU. “Having a passport office on campus will make it more convenient for our students, faculty, and staff to obtain the necessary travel documents for international travel.”

The new passport office is staffed by trained professionals who are able to assist applicants with the passport application process, including helping them complete the required forms and providing guidance on the necessary supporting documents. The office also offers passport photo services, so applicants can get their photos taken on-site.

In addition to providing passport services, the office also offers information and resources for students interested in studying abroad or participating in international programs. Students can learn about different study abroad opportunities, scholarship options, and visa requirements for various countries.

The opening of the passport office at WSSU comes at a time when more students are seeking opportunities to study or travel abroad. According to a recent survey, over 60% of college students are interested in studying abroad during their academic career. Having a passport office on campus will make it easier for students to take advantage of these opportunities.

“I think it’s great that WSSU is opening a passport office on campus,” said Jessica Washington, a senior at WSSU. “I’ve always wanted to study abroad, but the process of getting a passport seemed daunting. Having the office on campus will make it so much easier for me to apply for a passport and pursue my dreams of studying in another country.”

The opening of the passport office is part of WSSU’s efforts to enhance the internationalization of the campus and provide students with more opportunities for global engagement. In recent years, the university has expanded its study abroad programs, developed partnerships with international institutions, and increased funding for scholarships for international travel.

“We are committed to providing our students with a global perspective and preparing them to be successful in an interconnected world,” said Dr. Robinson. “By offering passport services on campus, we are making it easier for our students to explore new cultures, learn new languages, and gain valuable international experiences.”

The passport office at WSSU is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome. For more information or to schedule an appointment, students can visit the WSSU Passport Office website or contact the office directly at (336) 750-1234.

Overall, the opening of the passport office at WSSU is a welcome development for the campus community. It provides students, faculty, and staff with a convenient and reliable way to obtain the necessary travel documents for international travel. With the support and resources offered by the passport office, more members of the WSSU community will have the opportunity to explore the world and engage in meaningful cross-cultural experiences.
