Skokie Post Office Expedites Passport Applications with New Service
SKOKIE, IL – The Skokie Post Office has introduced a new service to expedite passport applications, making it easier than ever for residents to obtain this essential travel document. With the busy holiday season approaching, the post office is expecting a surge in passport applications, and this new service will help streamline the process for customers.
The Skokie Post Office Passport Center, located at 4950 Main St, is now offering expedited passport applications for those who need their passports quickly. The service is available for both first-time passport applicants and those who need to renew their passports. By utilizing this new service, residents can receive their passports in as little as 2-3 weeks, compared to the standard processing time of 4-6 weeks.
“We are excited to offer this new service to our customers,” said Skokie Postmaster Jane Johnson. “We know how important passports are for travel, and we want to make the process as easy and convenient as possible for our residents.”
To take advantage of the expedited service, customers can make an appointment at the Skokie Post Office Passport Center by calling (847) 673-1779. During the appointment, customers will need to submit the required passport application form, proof of citizenship, proof of identity, and a passport photo. The cost for the expedited service is an additional $60, on top of the regular passport application fee.
The Skokie Post Office is also offering a passport photo service for those who need to have their photo taken for their passport application. The cost for a passport photo is $15, and customers can have their photo taken on-site at the Passport Center.
“We want to make the passport application process as seamless as possible for our customers,” said Johnson. “By offering a photo service on-site, we can ensure that customers have everything they need to submit their application successfully.”
In addition to the new expedited service, the Skokie Post Office Passport Center is also reminding customers to check their passport expiration dates before traveling. Many countries require passports to have at least six months of validity remaining before entry, so it’s important to renew your passport in a timely manner.
“We want to make sure that our customers are prepared for their travels,” said Johnson. “By checking your passport expiration date well in advance, you can avoid any last-minute stress or delays.”
The Skokie Post Office Passport Center is open Monday-Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and appointments are recommended for passport applications. The center is also open on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm for passport photo services only.
