Europe Launches New “ECU Passport” Program for Seamless Travel Among Member States
In a groundbreaking initiative aimed at further integrating the European Union and promoting hassle-free travel among member states, the European Commission has announced the launch of the ECU Passport program. This innovative digital passport will allow EU citizens to travel seamlessly across borders within the Schengen Area, using a secure and standardized form of identification.
The ECU Passport, named after the European Currency Unit, will serve as a digital document that contains essential personal information, such as name, nationality, date of birth, and a secure biometric identifier. The passport will be accessible through a smartphone app or a physical card, providing a convenient and secure means of identification for EU citizens traveling within the Schengen Area.
