Fresno State University Launches New Student Passport Program

Fresno, CA – Fresno State University announced today the launch of a new student passport program aimed at providing students with a unique opportunity to enhance their educational experience through global learning and cultural immersion. The Fresno State Passport program will offer students the opportunity to earn a “passport” by participating in various global learning activities and experiences both on and off campus.

The program, which is the first of its kind at Fresno State, is designed to encourage students to explore different cultures, languages, and perspectives while also expanding their academic and personal horizons. According to Dr. Jane Smith, Vice Provost for Student Success and Enrollment Management, the Fresno State Passport program is part of the university’s commitment to providing students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for success in a globalized world.

“We are excited to launch the Fresno State Passport program as a way to offer our students a truly unique and transformative educational experience,” said Dr. Smith. “Through this program, students will have the opportunity to engage with different cultures, learn new languages, and develop a greater understanding and appreciation of the world around them.”

To earn their “passport,” students will be required to complete a series of global learning activities and experiences, including study abroad programs, foreign language courses, international internships, and cultural events. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in service learning projects and community service activities that promote global awareness and understanding.

“We believe that the Fresno State Passport program will not only enhance students’ academic experience but also prepare them to be global citizens who are capable of navigating and thriving in an increasingly interconnected world,” said Dr. Smith. “By participating in this program, students will develop important skills such as cross-cultural communication, adaptability, and a global perspective that will serve them well in their future careers and endeavors.”

The Fresno State Passport program is open to all undergraduate and graduate students at Fresno State, with enrollment beginning in the fall semester. Students who successfully complete the program will receive a “passport” certificate and be recognized at a special ceremony during graduation.

“As a student at Fresno State, I am excited about the opportunities that the Passport program will offer me to explore new cultures and perspectives,” said Sarah Garcia, a junior majoring in International Studies. “I believe that participating in this program will not only enhance my academic experience but also help me grow as a person and prepare me for a successful career in an increasingly globalized world.”

The Fresno State Passport program is just one of the many initiatives that Fresno State University has launched in recent years to promote global learning and cultural diversity on campus. In addition to the Passport program, the university offers a wide range of study abroad programs, international exchange opportunities, and cultural events that allow students to engage with and learn from people of different backgrounds and experiences.

“We are committed to providing our students with a truly transformative educational experience that prepares them to be active and engaged global citizens,” said Dr. Smith. “We believe that the Fresno State Passport program is an important step towards achieving this goal and look forward to seeing the impact that it will have on our students’ lives and futures.”
