Frisco Library Introduces Passport Program to Encourage Summer Reading
As the summer months approach, the Frisco Public Library is gearing up for a fun and exciting program that will not only keep residents entertained but also help improve literacy skills. The library has announced the launch of the Frisco Library Passport program, a unique initiative that aims to encourage residents to explore different genres of literature while earning rewards along the way.
The Frisco Library Passport program is a twist on the traditional summer reading programs that many libraries offer. Instead of simply logging the number of books read, participants will be encouraged to read books from a variety of genres and complete different challenges in order to earn points. The more points they accumulate, the more rewards they will receive.
“We wanted to create a program that would not only encourage residents to read more but also to broaden their reading horizons,” said Sarah Johnson, the head librarian at the Frisco Public Library. “With the Frisco Library Passport program, participants will be able to discover new books and authors that they may not have otherwise explored.”
To take part in the program, residents can pick up a passport booklet at the library or download it online. The passport is divided into different genres, such as mystery, science fiction, romance, and historical fiction. Participants can choose to read books from any of these genres and complete challenges related to each genre.
For example, in the mystery genre, participants may be challenged to solve a puzzle or write a short story inspired by their favorite mystery novel. In the science fiction genre, they may be asked to create a futuristic world or design a spacecraft based on a book they have read. Each completed challenge earns participants a certain number of points, which can be exchanged for rewards at the library.
“We have partnered with several local businesses to provide rewards for participants,” Johnson explained. “These rewards include gift cards, freebies, and discounts at various stores and restaurants in the Frisco area. It’s a fun way to incentivize reading and support local businesses at the same time.”
The Frisco Library Passport program is not limited to residents of a certain age group. Children, teens, and adults are all encouraged to participate and earn rewards. The program will run throughout the summer months, giving participants plenty of time to complete challenges and explore new literary adventures.
“We are excited to see the community come together through this program,” Johnson said. “Reading is such a wonderful way to escape, learn, and grow, and we hope that the Frisco Library Passport program will inspire residents to make reading a part of their daily lives.”
In addition to the Passport program, the Frisco Public Library will also be hosting a series of events and activities throughout the summer to promote literacy and engage residents of all ages. These events will include author visits, book clubs, storytelling sessions, and more.
“We have a lot of exciting things planned for the summer,” Johnson said. “From virtual author talks to outdoor reading picnics, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. We want to make the library a place where residents can come together, share stories, and celebrate the joy of reading.”
