Middlesex County Introduces New Passport Program to Promote Local Tourism

In an effort to boost tourism and support local businesses, Middlesex County has launched a new passport program that encourages residents and visitors to explore all that the county has to offer. The Middlesex County Passport Program, which officially kicked off on May 1st, allows participants to collect stamps from various locations throughout the county in order to earn rewards and discounts at participating businesses.

The passport program was created as a collaboration between the Middlesex County Economic Development Department and the Middlesex County Tourism Board. The program aims to showcase the diverse attractions and activities available in Middlesex County, from historical sites and museums to parks and restaurants.

“We wanted to provide a fun and interactive way for people to discover everything that Middlesex County has to offer,” said Sarah Thompson, the director of the Middlesex County Economic Development Department. “By participating in the passport program, residents and visitors can explore different parts of the county, support local businesses, and maybe even learn something new along the way.”

To participate in the passport program, individuals can pick up a passport booklet at any participating location or download a digital version from the Middlesex County Tourism Board’s website. The passport booklet contains a list of participating locations, along with space to collect stamps from each location visited.

Participants can start collecting stamps by visiting any of the participating locations and making a purchase or completing a designated activity. Once they have collected a certain number of stamps, they can redeem their passport for rewards such as discounts at local shops and restaurants, free admission to museums and attractions, or even a free night’s stay at a local hotel.

“We’ve had a great response from both residents and visitors since we launched the program,” said Lisa Patel, the coordinator of the Middlesex County Tourism Board. “People are excited about the opportunity to explore the county and discover new places they may not have known about before. It’s been a great way to promote local businesses and attractions.”

The passport program has also been beneficial for participating businesses, many of which have seen an increase in foot traffic and sales since joining the program. By offering discounts and rewards to passport holders, businesses have been able to attract new customers and build relationships with existing ones.

“We’ve seen a noticeable uptick in customers since we became a participating location in the passport program,” said Mark Johnson, the owner of a local cafe. “It’s been a great way to incentivize people to come and try out our menu, and we’ve had several customers come back even after they’ve completed their passport.”

Middlesex County plans to continue the passport program indefinitely, with new locations and rewards being added regularly. The county is also exploring the possibility of partnering with neighboring counties to create a regional passport program that would encourage visitors to explore multiple counties in the area.

“We’re thrilled with the success of the passport program so far, and we look forward to seeing it grow and evolve in the future,” said Thompson. “It’s a great way to showcase all of the amazing things that Middlesex County has to offer, and we hope it will continue to be a popular attraction for residents and visitors alike.”
