New Mexico Passport Program Boosts State Tourism
The state of New Mexico is unveiling a new passport program aimed at boosting tourism across the Land of Enchantment. The New Mexico Passport program encourages travelers to explore the state’s diverse cultural attractions, natural beauty, and unique experiences.
The passport program is a collaboration between the New Mexico Tourism Department and local businesses, attractions, and museums. Travelers can pick up a passport at participating locations across the state, including visitor centers, hotels, and tourist attractions. The passport contains a list of participating locations, along with space for travelers to collect stamps or stickers at each destination.
“We are thrilled to launch the New Mexico Passport program as a way to showcase all that our state has to offer,” said State Tourism Secretary, Jesse Muniz. “This program will encourage visitors to explore beyond the major tourist destinations and discover the hidden gems that make New Mexico so special.”
The passport program is designed to highlight the diverse range of experiences available in New Mexico, from historic adobe architecture to vibrant Native American art and culture. Participants can collect stamps at cultural landmarks like Taos Pueblo, Bandelier National Monument, and the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum. They can also visit natural attractions like White Sands National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, and the Gila National Forest.
In addition to historical and cultural sites, the New Mexico Passport program also includes opportunities to sample local cuisine, shop for artisanal crafts, and attend festivals and events. Travelers can collect stamps at farmers markets, craft breweries, wineries, and art galleries, showcasing the best of New Mexico’s food and drink scene.
“We wanted to create a program that encourages visitors to immerse themselves in all aspects of New Mexico culture,” said Muniz. “From tasting green chile dishes to admiring traditional pottery, the passport program is a fun and interactive way to experience the richness of our state.”
To participate in the passport program, travelers simply need to pick up a passport at a participating location and start collecting stamps. Once they have collected a certain number of stamps, they can redeem their passport for discounts, prizes, or exclusive offers at participating businesses. Some locations may offer special incentives for passport holders, such as free admission, complimentary tastings, or discounted merchandise.
The New Mexico Tourism Department is also promoting the passport program through social media, travel blogs, and press releases. They hope to attract both out-of-state visitors and local residents to participate in the program and explore new destinations within New Mexico.
“We want to encourage travelers to go beyond the usual tourist spots and discover the hidden treasures of New Mexico,” said Muniz. “Whether you’re a history buff, nature lover, foodie, or art aficionado, there’s something for everyone in our state.”
The New Mexico Passport program is set to launch in the spring of 2022 and will run throughout the year. Travelers can find more information about participating locations, special offers, and passport redemption options on the New Mexico Tourism Department website.
