Santa Clarita Library Introduces New Passport Program for Book Lovers
The Santa Clarita Library has unveiled an exciting new program for book lovers in the area – the Library Passport Program. This innovative program allows patrons to “travel the world” through books by earning stamps in their passport each time they check out a book from a different country. The goal of the program is to encourage reading and cultural exploration among library users.
The Library Passport Program is simple and easy to participate in. When patrons check out a book from the library that is set in or about a specific country, they will receive a stamp in their passport for that country. Each book is worth one stamp, and patrons can collect as many stamps as they like. The more stamps they collect, the closer they get to completing their passport and earning a special reward.
The library has curated a diverse collection of books from countries all around the world, ensuring that patrons have a wide variety of options to choose from. From gripping thrillers set in Japan to heartwarming romances set in Italy, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The library has also included informational books about different countries, providing patrons with the opportunity to learn more about the culture and history of each place they “visit” through their reading.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Library Passport Program to our patrons,” says Library Director, Maria Rodriguez. “Reading is a wonderful way to expand your horizons and learn about different cultures, and we wanted to create a fun and interactive way for our community to do just that. We hope that this program will inspire people to explore new authors, genres, and countries through their reading.”
In addition to collecting stamps in their passports, patrons can also participate in themed events and activities tied to different countries. These events include book clubs, author talks, film screenings, and more, all designed to enhance the reading experience and provide further insight into the cultures represented in the books. The library will also be hosting a grand finale event at the end of the program where patrons can come together to share their favorite reads, discuss their travel experiences through books, and celebrate their reading accomplishments.
“I think this program is a fantastic idea,” says avid reader and program participant, Sarah Williams. “I’ve already checked out books from six different countries, and I’m excited to see where my reading adventures take me next. It’s been a great way to discover new authors and immerse myself in different cultures without leaving the comfort of my own home.”
The Library Passport Program is open to all library patrons, regardless of age or reading preferences. Whether you’re a fan of fiction, non-fiction, mystery, romance, or any other genre, there is something for everyone to enjoy in this program. The program will run for six months, giving participants plenty of time to collect stamps, explore new worlds, and broaden their literary horizons.
