Arizona State University (ASU) is set to open a new U.S. Passport Acceptance Office on campus to provide a convenient and accessible service for students and community members in need of passport services.
Located on the Tempe campus, the new office will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., offering a variety of passport services including new passport applications, passport renewals, and passport photos. The office will be staffed by trained professionals who are authorized by the U.S. Department of State to accept passport applications on behalf of the government.
“We are excited to be able to offer this important service to our students and the wider community,” said ASU President Michael Crow. “Having a passport acceptance office on campus will make it easier for students who are studying abroad or participating in international programs to obtain the necessary travel documentation.”
In addition to serving ASU students, faculty, and staff, the passport acceptance office will also be open to the general public. This will provide a convenient option for local residents who may not have easy access to other passport acceptance facilities.
“We want to make the passport application process as simple and convenient as possible for anyone who needs our services,” said Sarah Johnson, Director of the ASU Passport Acceptance Office. “Our staff are trained to assist with all types of passport applications and can help answer any questions that individuals may have.”
To apply for a passport at the ASU Passport Acceptance Office, individuals will need to bring certain documentation with them, including proof of U.S. citizenship, a valid form of photo identification, and a passport photo. The office will also have a camera on-site for those who need to have their photo taken.
The opening of the new passport acceptance office comes at a time when international travel is beginning to resume after a long pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With more people looking to travel abroad for work, study, or leisure, having a local passport acceptance facility will be a valuable resource.
“We anticipate a high demand for passport services as travel restrictions are lifted and borders reopen,” said Johnson. “Having a passport is essential for anyone planning to travel internationally, and we are here to help streamline the application process for our community.”
In addition to passport services, the ASU Passport Acceptance Office will also offer information and resources for travelers, including tips on how to stay safe and healthy while abroad. The office will work closely with ASU’s Study Abroad Office to provide comprehensive support for students preparing for international experiences.
“We want to ensure that our students have all the tools they need to have a successful and enriching study abroad experience,” said Crow. “By offering passport services on campus, we are making it easier for our students to take advantage of all the opportunities that international travel has to offer.”
The ASU Passport Acceptance Office is scheduled to open in the coming weeks, with a grand opening event planned to celebrate the new facility. Students, faculty, staff, and members of the community are invited to attend the event and learn more about the services that will be available.
“We are looking forward to serving the ASU community and beyond with our new passport acceptance office,” said Johnson. “We encourage anyone who is in need of passport services to visit us on campus and let us help them with their travel plans.”
