UC Davis Launches New Passport Services for Students

UC Davis has recently launched a new initiative to provide passport services for students. The program is aimed at making it easier for students to obtain passports for studying abroad, internships, research projects, and other international opportunities.

The passport services are being offered through the UC Davis Study Abroad Center, which is dedicated to promoting international experiences for students. The center has partnered with the U.S. Department of State to offer expedited passport processing for students, faculty, and staff.

“The ability to travel and study abroad is a valuable part of the educational experience,” says Dr. Emily Thomas, Director of the UC Davis Study Abroad Center. “We are excited to offer this new service to help students navigate the passport application process and make their international dreams a reality.”

The passport services include assistance with passport applications, renewals, replacements, and name changes. Students can also receive help with expedited processing for urgent travel needs.

“We understand that obtaining a passport can be a daunting task, especially for students who may be applying for the first time,” says Thomas. “Our goal is to simplify the process and provide support every step of the way.”

In addition to passport services, the UC Davis Study Abroad Center offers a wide range of resources and programs to help students prepare for international travel. These include pre-departure orientations, cultural workshops, language classes, and funding opportunities.

“We want to make sure that students are well-prepared for their time abroad and have a meaningful and impactful experience,” says Thomas. “Our team is here to support students before, during, and after their international journeys.”

The passport services are already receiving positive feedback from students who have used them. “I was so grateful for the assistance I received from the Study Abroad Center in getting my passport,” says Sarah, a UC Davis student who recently studied abroad in Spain. “They made the process easy and stress-free, and I was able to focus on preparing for my trip.”

The launch of passport services at UC Davis comes at a time when international travel is becoming increasingly important for students. Globalization has made it essential for individuals to have cross-cultural experiences and to understand different perspectives.

“Students who study abroad gain valuable skills and insights that will benefit them in their academic and professional careers,” says Thomas. “We want to remove any barriers that may prevent students from taking advantage of these opportunities.”

The UC Davis Study Abroad Center is now encouraging all students to consider studying abroad and to take advantage of the passport services available to them. The center is also working with faculty and staff to promote internationalization on campus and to create more opportunities for global engagement.

“We believe that international experiences are transformative and enriching for everyone involved,” says Thomas. “We are committed to expanding access to these experiences and to supporting students in their journey to explore the world.”

Overall, the launch of passport services at UC Davis signals a renewed commitment to global education and intercultural understanding. The program is expected to benefit hundreds of students each year and to contribute to the university’s reputation as a leader in international education.

“We are excited to see the impact that the passport services will have on our students and on the UC Davis community as a whole,” says Thomas. “We look forward to helping more students travel the world and to creating a more interconnected and inclusive campus.”
